EA Sports UFC 5 – not to be confused with renamed soccer series EA Sports FC – will be officially announced in September 2023, after it was teased on Twitter earlier today. No platforms were confirmed, but this series – along with Fight Night – has routinely pushed presentation boundaries, so PS5 is practically guaranteed. We’re not expecting a PS4 version at this point, but it’s not impossible.
There were rumours in 2021 that the publisher had paused development of a new Fight Night game in order to continue development of its UFC franchise, and at that point the MMA title was pegged for a late 2022 release. Obviously it’s taken a lot longer than anticipated to materialise, as we’re now deep into 2023 and it’s only just getting around to being announced.
Nevertheless, we’re expecting this to be a breathtaking effort, as all of the EA Sports UFC outings have been stunning visually. We really liked EA Sports UFC 4, but we reckon the developer still has its work cut out nailing the ground game, which is notoriously difficult to convert into compelling gameplay. The stand-and-bang aspect of the previous title was exceptional, though, and we’d expect further refinements to be revealed when this one is finally officially unveiled in September.

I have been waiting for a new Fight Night game since PS3 ugh.
I have no faith in these games. 3 was awful, pro fighters gassing after five punches. 4 was barely better.
Hopefully there be a big leap since the last one was in 2020.
@Jammsbro It had sliders.
Well I hope the fighter models actually look like their real life counterparts this time round cos in UFC 4 they all looked like they'd been beaten with the ugly stick and then rendered by a malfunctioning AI 😵
@Jammsbro I’m not sure you knew how to play the game & manage stamina. 3 was great (after some patches & balancing issues).
4 was a buggy regression of 3 (still is) with a terrible ground game, dumbed down submission mini games & focus on non mma cosmetics.
I don’t have expectations for EA doing anything decent again with this franchise but deep down have hopes there’s still some passionate MMA devs left.
So fight nights been put on the back burner for another ufc game..i like watching the ufc but the games are pretty dull to be honest. Fight night is what we want EA not sweaty men molesting each other on the floor..
Fight night was such a good game
An announcement of an announcement?
I play UFC 4 from time to time, but only stand and Bang online as thats where the game shines and its really fun! Looking forward to the next game 😀🥊
Really need a boxing game like Fight Night again. I've been following Undisputed (formerly eSports Boxing Club), which is in early access on Steam, and from what I can gather it could be great by the time it's fully released.
Much rather have a new Fight Night.
Nothing, absolutely nothing will ever compare to THQs Undisputed 3. Tried to play 4's career mode. Made a wrestler. The mode made me learn stand up with no mention of how to clinch or take anyone down OR how to do anything on the ground if I got taken or knocked down. Deleted it and haven't been back. Garbage gameplay with a shiny coat of paint.
After last night just seeing that picture of Izzy made me cringe.
